E. Assemblies

The overall shape is made of cut Plexiglas (sometimes in varying colors), adhered together. The pieces in this group generally rely on making form through assembly of parts. Building blocks are rotated, stacked and then adhered to make an overall form. Two-dimensional shapes create a three-dimensional object. In one piece, the layers differ in size, creating the same effect for both implied and actual readings. The notion of a building block, a single persistent element used to create a whole, is first found in these works. A similar approach is used in later work, with clear Plexiglas rods used as the building block.
