B. Figural

Florsheim initially worked to capture human form in her sculptures. Executed in clay, (plasticine), they were later cast in plaster or in a few cases, bronze. These pieces are among Lillian’s first forays into sculpture, and are emotive in character. Following these, she began to focus more directly on questions of abstract form and geometry.

Lady in Circle (B4) focuses on an interesting relationship between human form (the figure) and geometry (the circle). In this strongly formal piece, one can note that particular attention was paid to the figure, as well as the negative or void spaces.
